Ten years ago, RHI Magnesita made the decision to build a modern, well-equipped facility offering a state-of-the-art training concept: The Training Centre Cement in Leoben, Austria. Since then, RHI Magnesita’s experts have used this space to share their specialist knowledge and experience on the installation of refractory bricks and mixes with customers from the cement sector, interested specialists from related industries, company staff and in-house professionals.

“We are very pleased that more than 550 professionals from various countries have attended our trainings in the last 10 years,” says Peter Steinkellner, leader of the Training Centre Cement. To date, a total of almost 50 courses have been held at the centre. The three-day training programmes, which are attended by all levels of cement plant staff involved with refractories, provide not only theoretical insights but also place particular focus on practical implementation. On different full-scale models, participants can immediately practice what they have learned in the training facility. Training content ranges from popular lining methods and the quality of installations to error analysis and prevention. The centre recently underwent a thorough renovation; trainings can now be carried out at the brand-new facilities. Furthermore, the training portfolio has significantly expanded to include new courses on steel industry applications and, starting next year, regular trainings for professionals from the lime industry.
