At the end of July, Holcim (Deutschland)’s Beckum cement plant was awarded the Silver Sustainability Certificate by the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC). The Beckum plant is the first LafargeHolcim plant globally to receive CSC certification.

The Silver Sustainability Certificate is the highest level of sustainability certification awarded by the CSC to cement plants. It implies the plant manages its cement production in an ecologically, socially and economically responsible manner.

In addition to plant operations, the certification procedure also takes into account the cement plant’s value chain.

Founded in November 2016, the CSC runs under the auspices of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. It offers a certification system for concrete, cement, and aggregate companies that aims to promote responsibly-sourced concrete for sustainable construction.
