The Plymouth Herald is reporting that a new cement depot of six silos, lorry loading bays and an office will be built at Corporation Wharf, Plymouth in southwest England. The project is being planned by the Victoria Group, which says that the new facility would have the capacity to store 12 000 t and will receive 12 boatloads of cement per day, or 3500 per year.
The land includes old disused rail lines and used to be used for coal imports and more recently as a boat storage and repair yard. The port facilities would help replace the 3500 lorries bringing cement into the region by road each year.
