Cemvision and JM have successfully completed their first joint pilot casting in a Swedish construction project with Re-ment Massive.

Cemvision’s near-zero-carbon cement has the potential to reduce climate impact by up to 95% and opens new pathways for JM to achieve its ambitious climate targets.

The casting is part of the strategic partnership that JM and Cemvision initiated earlier this year, with the ambition of entering into an off-take agreement of cement for large-scale use in JM projects in the future. Cemvision's first industrial-scale production facility is expected to be delivery-ready in 2028.

“This casting is a good first step towards the widespread implementation of our groundbreaking cement in JM's projects. For us, it is crucial to have the industry's largest players on board our growth journey – where the next step is to expand our own production on a large scale,” says Hanna Renlund Westerberg, Chief Commercial Officer of Cemvision.

Cemvision has developed a new generation of cement that replaces traditional cement in concrete without compromising on quality or performance. Their technology enables the production of circular cement on an industrial scale, using recycled industrial waste from the mining and steel industries as raw materials and a fossil-free manufacturing process, thus significantly reducing the climate footprint compared to traditional cement production, which relies on fossil fuels and quarries natural limestone.

“We are constantly looking for new solutions that can reduce our climate emissions. Cemvision's technology shows great potential, and our strategic partnership demonstrates our belief in this development. That is why we have invested in and are a minority owner in Cemvision,” says Johan Wiksell, Head of JM's venture operations.

The casting was carried out outside Kungsbacka and is an initial step towards more extensive test projects and applications in the near future.

“This casting marks an important milestone – both for JM's ambition to achieve near-zero climate emissions by 2030 and for the industry's transition as a whole. Materials, and concrete in particular, account for a significant part of the construction industry's climate impact. If JM and the industry are to achieve their climate goals, this type of innovation is essential,” says Johanna Wikander, Head of Sustainability at JM.
