CIMPOR have reached an important milestone in its commitment to transparency, business ethics and sustainable management by receiving two important international certifications: ISO 37301:2021 - Compliance Management Systems and ISO 37001:2017 - Anti-Bribery Management Systems.
These certifications were formally handed over during a meeting between the CIMPOR team and the auditors from CPC Certification, and cover CIMPOR's operations on three continents, namely in Portugal, Türkiye, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Romania and Cape Verde.
ISO 37301 is an international standard that defines the requirements for implementing compliance management systems in organisations, enabling them to establish and maintain effective processes to ensure compliance with laws, regulations and ethical standards. This certification reflects CIMPOR's ongoing efforts to promote responsible business practices by minimising the risks of non-compliance and strengthening trust among all its stakeholders.
In turn, ISO 37001 is dedicated to the implementation of anti-bribery management systems, an essential tool for companies to combat the practice of corruption in any form, whether direct or indirect. With this certification, CIMPOR demonstrates its commitment to creating a transparent and ethical business environment and contributing to building a fairer and more competitive society. Özge Asçioglu, Group Director of Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance at CIMPOR Global Holdings, emphasised the importance of the certifications in aligning the company with international best practices: ‘These certifications are recognition of the work and commitment of our team to ensure compliance with the highest standards of integrity and transparency. We will continue to invest in the continuous improvement of our processes and promote a responsible and sustainable corporate culture.’
This recognition is another important step on CIMPOR's path to establishing itself as a leader in the sector, always with a firm commitment to transparency and compliance.
CIMPOR shared its approach and practices in compliance management at the 13th Annual European Compliance and Ethics Conference organized by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) in Lisbon on March 10-12. CIMPOR Compliance and Risk Management Senior Specialist Maria Inês Mendes and CIMPOR-OYAK Cement Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Group Director Özge Asçioglu shared the challenges companies face in compliance management in African countries and the solutions to overcome these in the panel titled “Compliance Beyond European Borders: Navigating Compliance in Africa”.
