Freightliner Group Chairman to retire

Peter Maybury, Chairman of leading rail freight provider Freightliner Group, is retiring after 18 years with the company. Peter was CEO of the group from 2009 to 2013 and has remained a strong support through this position as Chairman. He has also held the position of Chairman of the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) Freight Group and has been influential in promoting rail freight across the UK.

Peter said, “I have enjoyed my time with Freightliner enormously and I am delighted with the tremendous progress the company has made since privatisation.”

Michael Roberts, Director General of the RDG, which represents Network Rail, train and freight operators, said: “Peter has made a highly valuable contribution to the rail freight industry, and the railway more widely, through his leadership of the RDG’s freight group. This work has seen the freight sector work together to make the case for freight on rail, setting out the sector’s importance to the economy and its benefits to the environment. Peter leaves the industry with many best wishes for a long and enjoyable retirement.”
