According to the World Meteorological Organisation, that greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere reached a record high in 2014 and the relentless fuelling of climate change is endangering the planet for future generations. This was recently reported on by Reuters.
"Every year we say that time is running out. We have to act NOW to slash greenhouse gas emissions if we are to have a chance to keep the increase in temperatures to manageable levels," WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud said in a statement.
His annual plea to reduce greenhouse gas emissions - which come mainly from burning fossil fuels and from agriculture, cement production and deforestation - comes weeks before negotiators from over 190 states convene in Paris to try to agree a new UN climate deal.
The Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) organised three sessions on air emissions monitoring and control for its ten members in India. The events were hosted by Dalmia Bharat Cement, ACC Limited and UltraTech Cement.
The government is attempting to pass emissions trading legislation to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 20% by 2020. A bill that rules 20% of all power must come from renewable sources by 2020 has already been passed.
