Russian Railways Logistics, a subsidiary of RZD Holding, has helped the Novotroitsk cement plant to optimise raw materials delivery and lower costs. RZD Logistics transports raw materials from the Iriklinskoe limestone deposit to the plant, which forms part of the United Cement Group Holding. Both the cement production facility and quarry are located in Russia’s Orenburg region, close to the Kazakhstan border.
RZD Logistics’ scope includes preparing loaded cars for dispatch, rolling stock leasing, forming dispatch routes, shunting works and logistics solutions. Monthly transported volumes are expected to reach 60 000 t.
The new rail delivery scheme replaces truck transport, which had previously led to cost increases and a shortfall of raw materials.
