Global building materials solutions supplier Cemex announces the opening of a new state-of-the-art facility in Swindon, Wiltshire, dedicated to lower carbon dry mortar and sprayed concrete production.

The new plant will enable Cemex UK’s Mortar business to increase production capacity in the South East and South West, and ensure it can offer nationwide supply of both dry mortar and sprayed concrete.

Following significant investment, the new plant includes a state-of-the-art drying process which has been specially developed to reduce heat, and significantly save fuel.

Supplies into the new plant will be received in a dedicated under-cover storage area which will enable additional shelter and protection from wet weather conditions.

Lex Russell, Managing Director UK Materials comments: “We have seen our Mortars business grow from strength to strength in recent years, with demand exceeding capacity for dry mortar and sprayed concrete at Dove Holes in Derbyshire and at our dry mortar plant in Braintree, Essex.

“We’re therefore delighted that the opening of our new Wiltshire plant will enable us to increase capacity and therefore penetrate new regional markets, while expanding and better serving our existing customer base.”
