The rail link between the Rohrdorf cement plant and Rosenheim railway stations has been upgraded, allowing the passage of heavier wagons. Following the renewal works, which were undertaken by Deutsche Bahn, the maximum permissible payload per wagon has been increased from 55.5 t to 65 t.
The railway is used to bring limestone from the quarries in Bad Häring and Fischbach to the cement plant. The plant receives two trains a day. Following the upgrade, this will mean 25 000 tpy of material can be moved to the plant via rail. It will also allow a reduction in the number of wagons per train from 20 to 10.
The upgrade work has also required a change in wagon by train operator, DB-Schenker, as well as the installation of new loading control and new software.
