Ciments Calcia, part of the Italcementi Group, opted to change the complete fuel system on the kiln burner at its plant in Couvrot, France, due to rising fuel oil costs.
A new petcoke system was started up in a prepared Greco kiln burner in September 2012. At the end of the year, the cement manufacturer went on to award A TEC Greco a contract for the implementation of a natural gas modification kit in the existing system.
The kit comprises a valve train for 3500 Nm3/h, a fuel management system, a gas lance, a flame sensor and the modification kit for the burner. Installation will be carried out according to EN 746-2, including failsafe programming on the fuel and burner management system. The update will be installed and started up following a short kiln stoppage in mid-June.
