Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd has reported its results for 3Q15, including a rise in volumes and income y/y. Total expenses also increased, bringing EBITDA down from Rs.128 crores in 3Q14 to Rs.125 crores in 3Q15.

Income rose to Rs.794 crore from Rs.707 crore in 3Q14, thanks to a 6% rise in volumes and a 9% increase in sales realisations. Though power and fuel costs came down – lower by 16% on a per tonne basis – this was offset by increased freight costs and an increase in raw material costs for the North East Operations. Profit after tax was positive at Rs.10 lakh against a loss of Rs.12 crore in 3Q14. Efficiency enhancements brought down costs in the group’s southern operations, while in the north east volumes were up 22% q/q thanks to a stabilisation in operations.

The acquisition of Dalmia Cement East Limited – formerly Bokaro Jaypee Cement Limited – was completed during 3Q15. The quarterly results include financials of Dalmia Cement East Limited, with effect from 16 November 2014.

Dalmia Cement expects improving demand and capacity utilisation in the year ahead.
