In an interview with Bloomberg, the CFO of D. G. Khan Cement Ltd spoke of plans to build a US$300 million cement plant near Karachi. Inayat Ullah Niazi told Bloomberg that Pakistan would experience a domestic shortage of cement in three years if demand grows at 10% each year.

The new plant will produce 2 – 2.5 million t of cement and will add to the company’s two existing plants, which have operated near full capacity for the last two years. The plant will be located west of Karachi. Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2018. It will be financed 40% through internal cash and the rest through debt, Niazi said in the interview.
