According to Bloomberg, Khan Cement has requested permission from the provincial government to boost its current facility by 12 000 tpd; the request could take up to 12 months to be approved. Inayat Ullah Niazi, Chief Financial Officer at D.G. Khan Cement, added that decisions regarding expanding capacity are to be made with consideration of the demand and economic situation.
If an expansion was to be permitted, D.G. Khan’s capacity could grow to 10.7 million t, allowing the company to overtake Bestway Cement Ltd as the nation’s biggest cement producer, and exceed their 10.3 million t capability.
