Ultratech Cement announces plans for new cement grinding plant at Dankuni, West Bengal

Ultratech Cement has announced its intentions to commission a 2 million tpa cement grinding plant at plant at Dankuni, Hooghly by the end of 1H14.

The plant, which is expected to run to Rs.500 crore, will be the company’s second in West Bengal, beating the existing 1.8 million tpa Durgapur plant in terms of size.

Ultratech Executive President for business development and strategy, Rajeev Mehta, said “Construction work is expected to begin in a month’s time and the plant is expected to go into operation within a year of that.”

Once brought on stream, the Dankuni plant will source clinker externally. It is expected that it will cosume around 4000 tpd clinker, 1400 tpd flyash and 350 tpd gypsum. It is possible that the clinker could be brought in from the Ultratech plants in Chattisgarh or Andhra Pradesh.
