According to China’s state news agency, CITIC Heavy Industries Co Ltd. has signed a contract for the engineering, procurement and construction of a new cement plant with Cambodian company Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation. The project plans to construct a US$262 million cement plant in the southwestern Kampot province of Cambodia.
Under the contract CITIC will carry out the detailed engineering design of the project, procure all equipment and materials necessary and then construct the plant for the Chip Mong Goup.
The project is a joint venture with Thailand’s Siam City Cement Public Co Ltd., with that company’s involvement being announced earlier in 2015, and will have a production capacity of 5000 tpd.
Thai company SCG is planning to expand capacity at its Kampot plant and add to its network of ready-mix concrete plants, according to a report in The Nation.
Semen Indonesia has yet to reach an agreement with its proposed JV partner in Myanmar, while Siam Cement Group is planning a new retail venture in the country with Siam Global House Plc.
