Semen Indonesia hosts customer gathering

Semen Indonesia held a customer gathering at the Grand City Surabaya, East Java, to strengthen synergies with distributors and retailers. More than 650 customers attended and awards were given out. Speaking at the event, Commercial Director Aunur Rosyidi said that demand for cement in the East Java area continues to increase as infrastructure development takes place. Semen Indonesia is targeting a market share of 71% in what it terms Area 1, including Surabaya, Gresik, Sidoarjo and Mojokerto. In the country as a whole, Semen Indonesia has a market share of 44% and is the market leader.

Aunur Rosyidi added that the company is constantly developing innovative products to meet customers’ needs and is focused on environmentally friendly and high quality processes to ensure customers have no concerns about choosing Semen Gresik products.

The Jakarta Post reports that Semen Indonesia has signed an MoU with the Jayapura municipal government to begin construction of a US$150 million plant capable of producing up to 1 million tpy of cement. The plant would supply the local area and neighbouring Papua New Guinea. Construction is expected to begin next year, pending permits, with commercial operation beginning in 2019.
