LafargeHolcim has launched the construction of a new cement plant in Cameroon, according to a company statement. The plant will be build by subsidiary Cimencam and be located in Nomayos, close to Cameroon’s capital, Yaoundé.

The new plant will have a capacity of 0.5 million tpy, bringing Cimencam’s total installed capacity to 2 million tpy, enough to satisfy Cameroonian demand with room to exports to neighbouring countries. The plant represents an investment of around US$47.1 million.

Cimencam is a subsidiary of LafargeHolcim Maroc Afrique (LHMA), a joint venture between Société nationale d’investissement (SNI), an investment company controlled by the Moroccan royal family, and Switzerland-based LafargeHolcim.
