Highlights from the UBOS construction sector indices for April to June 2013
Prices for the year ending June 2013
Prices for the whole construction sector increased by 3.2% in the year ending June 2013, compared to 7% for the year ending June 2012. The overall increase in prices at whole sector level in June 2013 was due to:
- A 2% rise in the prices of inputs for residential buildings./li>
- A 2.4% increase in the prices of inputs for non-residential buildings.
- A 7.1% rise in the prices of inputs for civil works.
Prices by month
- In June 2013, average prices of inputs for the whole construction sector decreased by 0.1% compared to May 2013. The average prices of inputs for non-residential buildings and civil works decreased by 0.1% each, while average prices of inputs for residential buildings remained unchanged.
- In April and May 2013, there were no significant changes in the average prices of inputs compared to March and April 2013.
Cement
- Cement production rose from 430 000 t in January – March 2013 to 448 000 t in April – June 2013. Production levels also increased y/y from 431 000 t in April – June 2013.
