Further evidence of cement demand growth in Saudi Arabia

Eastern Province Cement Co. in Saudi Arabia is to set up a new cement mill with a production capacity of 150 tph. The mill, which cost a reported SR82 million (US$21.86 million), is expected to be commissioned within 14 months. The supplier has not yet been named.

Cement demand in Saudi Arabia is soaring as the government pours money into infrastructure construction. In January, demand reportedly rose by 9%.

Meanwhile , Oman Cement has reportedly issued a tender for a new 150 tph cement mill and is looking for a consultant to design the pollution control system for its second line. The pollution control system for the first line is currently being trialled. The company currently produces 2.4 million tpa of clinker and cement sales in 2012 reached 2.3 million t.
