According to a report by Reuters, Nigerian conglomerate BUA Group is currently undergoing talks with China's Sinoma to build a steel plant in Nigeria and two cement plants in East Africa for US$1.9 billion.
Abdulsamad Rabiu, CEO of BUA Group, has announced that the two cement plants will have an annual capacity of 3 million t each, and will cost US$700 million. The steel plant will have a capacity of 1.2 million t and will cost US$1.2 billion.

BUA Group is expanding capacity at its Obu cement plant and has signed a US$600 million contract with Sinoma.
Nigeria’s BUA Cement has signed a gas sales and purchase agreement with Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) for the supply of natural gas to its Edo cement plant.
Work has begun on Sinoma and LNVT’s first EPC contract in India: a petcoke mill system for Shree Digvijay Cement Co. Ltd.
Work on the project at Edo Cement Company, a BUA Group venture, is progressing well and should be completed early next year.
