President of Chad, Idriss Déby, has officially opened the country’s second cement plant, according to local media reports. The plant has been built by Moroccan-based CIMAF Group. It follows the construction of the Baoré cement plant in 2012 by Chinese investors.
The new plant is located in N’Djamene and has a production capacity of 0.5 million tpy of cement, with potential to expand up to 1 million t. It is expected to employ over 200 local workers. Its construction cost XOF23 billion (US$39.3 million).
Raw materials for the plant will be sourced from Mayo Kabbi in the south of Chad, said Anas Serfrioui, President and CEO of the CIMAF Group, which is a subsidiary of the Addoha Group.
