A partnership that includes Ohorongo Cement is providing permanent housing to some of the poorest members of Namibian society. Ohorongo supplied cement worth NAD2 million, helping to construct 20 houses in the town of Otavi for members of the Shack Dwellers Federation Namibia (SDFN).

“This is an important milestone for Namibia in its quest to ensure decent housing for all,” said Hans-Wilhelm Schütte, Managing Director of Ohorongo Cement. “Empathy for fellow Namibians and supporting government initiatives are the dricing factors which motivated the companies to join hands in the first against poverty eradication, through supporting SDFN.”
Ohorongo was joined by Pupkewitz Foundation, which donated NAD2 million in building materials, as well as the FNB Namibia Foundation Trust, which contributed NAD2 million in cash to SDFN and Neo Paints, which committed products and skills training to the value of NAD0.35 million. The 20 new houses join a total of 91 homes that have been built by the project. Another 100 homes are expected to be constructed.
