JK Lakshmi’s Durg plant to begin production in October – December quarter

JK Lakshmi Cement’s new Rs.1500 crore Durg plant, located in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, will begin production by the October – December quarter of the current fiscal year.
Shailendra Chouksey, JK Lakshmi Cement's Whole-Time Director, told sources from the Press Trust of India (PTI) that the 2.7 million tpa Durg facility will be commissioned by the third quarter of the current fiscal year and as a result the company’s production capacity will increase to approximately 9.3 million tpa from the current 6.6 million tpa. The new greenfield plant is being built on a 600-acre site in the Ahiwara village.
Chouksey further commented on the company's plans to invest another Rs.600 crore during the current fiscal year, having increased capacity by over 1.3 million tpa in the previous financial year. In 2013 – 2014, the company increased clinker capacity by 3.3 lakh t to 46.20 lakh t and commissioned its second 6.57 lakh t grinding plant in Haryana.
In addition to the Durg plant, JK Lakshmi is also constructing a 6.5 lakh t grinding plant in Surat, in the state of Gujarat. Upon completion of this facility, the company’s overall cement capacity will rise to around 10 million tpa.
