Votorantim Cement opens its doors to future engineers

World Cement,

In September, a group of young people visited Votorantim’s Santa Helena cement plant in São Paulo, Brazil, as part of a career week initiative organised by 99 Jobs. Eleven people were selected out of 680 applicants, the majority of whom are training to be engineers. As part of the visit, the group was given information about the cement production process and a tour of the site, including the underground Baltar mine. They also had the opportunity to meet the plant’s Manager and Maintenance Engineer, who talked through their experiences of working with Votorantim.

The Brazilian group also opened its 2014 Trainees Programme last month. This includes 14 vacancies within Votorantim Cimentos. Those who graduated from December 2011 onwards are eligible to apply. The closing date for applications is 18 October, and those who are successful will begin the programme in January 2014.
