Changes in the directorate for India’s ACC and Ultratech

Indian cement companies ACC and Ultratech have appointed Additional Directors.

ACC

ACC selected Mr Bernard Terver as an Additional Director of the company during its Board of Directors Meeting held on 4 December 2013. Mr Terver is a representative of the Promoter viz. Holcim India Private Ltd and Holdering Investments Ltd on the ACC Board. He has 35 years of experience in the cement industry and has been in the services of Holcim since 1994, where he has held senior positions such as Chief Executive Officer of Holcim Colombia and Holcim US.

During the meeting, Mr Kuldip Kaura was re-appointed as Chief Executive Officer for another year, effective from 1 January 2014. Mr Kaura has leadership experience in the power, natural resources, metals and mining industries and knowledge of corporate governance and sustainable development in India, the UK and the US.

Ultratech

Ultratech has also made changes in its directorate, appointing Arun Adhikari as an Additional Director of the company during the Board of Directors Meeting on 3 December 2013.

Indian cement industry

The Indian cement market has been sluggish over the past few months partly due to a difficult economic environment and political issues although cost inflation pressure has somewhat eased. Rising costs may prove difficult for cement manufacturers over the coming year.
