Cimpor starts work on new cement plant in Mozambique

Cimpor has commenced work on a new cement plant in Mozambique. Cimentos de Moçambique, the company’s local subsidiary, is the only integrated cement producer in Mozambique with a cement production capacity of 3.1 million t and a workforce of 1200. The company owns a complete cement production plant in Matola and four grinding units in Dondo, Nacala, CINAC and Matola II. The new cement production line will be located in Nacala and from 2018 will produce 1.5 million tpy of cement, thus replacing imports of clinker. The US$250 million investment is being made to meet local demand.

Cimpor is part of InterCement, currently the 8th largest cement producer in the world, with a large presence in South America and a developing presence in Africa.
